Engaging internal audiences with podcasts for GEFCO

The brief_

As a logistics provider and essential part of the supply chain for their customers, GEFCO wanted to be proactive about addressing customer concerns around Covid-19.

As a people-first business, they also wanted to create content that would help them to continue to support their staff while many were furloughed, working remotely or working within social distancing guidelines.

GEFCO had some speakers in mind for their first podcast, but needed an expert viewpoint and support with project management.

Hassle-free production

During recording, The Marketing Pod’s role was to ensure the production went smoothly.

We did this by sourcing the best tech solution for GEFCO’s needs and created an engaging script. We also briefed and rehearsed with all speakers, and conducted soundchecks before recording. Once we had the recording, we edited it into a professional-sounding podcast.

Maximising the podcast’s reach

The podcast became a central part of GEFCO’s wider PR campaign focused on mental health.

The episode was released in time for Mental Health Awareness Week, and was made available across all mainstream podcast channels. We also created an accompanying blog and eye-catching social media assets to accompany its release.

150 individual downloads in the first week.

GEFCO was thrilled with the first podcast, and they have now decided to make podcasts an integral part of their digital communications strategy across the whole company, with the corporate HQ in France looking to replicate this format first.

““The Marketing Pod team were brilliant with our speakers - making sure everyone was well-equipped and comfortable. The finished article is perfect and sounds so professional. Well done for getting this over the line so quickly.”

— Lydia Maule, Head of Marketing at GEFCO UK

“The Marketing Pod made the whole podcast experience so simple for us. It was a great thing to do and I know there was lots of hard work going on behind the scenes, but we didn’t have to worry about any of it.

We’ve had so much interest and our corporate teams want to do more with this format, so expect to hear from us on this soon, Ellie!”

— Helen Grover, HR Director at GEFCO UK
