We’re a Great Place to Work - and here’s why our Podsters love Pod

It’s official: The Marketing Pod is a Great Place to Work (we always knew it was).

We’re delighted to announce we’ve made it on to Great Place to Work UK’s Best Workplaces™ list… again. This year, we landed in a fantastic 38th place in the small business category. And while being included is super exciting, what truly makes a workplace amazing?

Company culture and employee wellbeing is a top priority for our Solihull-based integrated B2B marketing and PR agency. Our Podsters are the beating heart of our business and we’ve worked hard to create a workplace where everyone feels safe and knows they are valued. So, to be recognised by Great Place to Work®, the global authority on workplace culture, is a huge honour.

Why are we a Great Place to Work?

The annual Best Workplaces list uses data gathered from anonymous employee experience surveys. Each business is assessed against thorough and rigorous criteria, before being ranked. It’s then revealed which workplaces have earned a place on the 2024 list.

Survey respondents cover all levels of the workforce, with each person sharing confidential feedback about what it’s really like to work for their organisation, their leaders and with their colleagues.

A whopping 97% of Podsters say the Pod is a fantastic place to work, according to our survey results. That’s compared to just 54% for the average UK company.

So what makes us different? We prioritise creating a safe, supportive environment where everyone feels valued and recognised. Plus, here at Pod, you can always count on colleagues for collaboration As cheesy as it sounds, it’s true what they say: teamwork makes the dream work.

What makes Pod special?

On top of analysing the survey results, we invited some of our Podsters, both new and old, to tell us what makes Pod a great place to work for them – and we were moved by what they said.

“The culture, 100%”, said Account Manager, Jen Sutton. “Everyone always has time for each other. For example, I’m based in Devon and a huge chunk of Podsters are making the time to come down to my wedding later this year. We really are a big family and it’s such a special place to be.”

José Garcia, Operations Assistant, also described Pod as “a big family”: “There is a willingness from all the team to want to help in any way they can. Everyone genuinely cares about Pod and about each other.”

Head of Content & PR, Emma Crofts, who joined the Pod in 2015, said: “I've been at Pod a long time and have been encouraged to grow and develop with the business, which is amazing. It's busy, never boring, and one of the most supportive, truly human workplaces you could hope for.”

Kat Hawkley, Account Director, added: “As a team we celebrate everyone's wins – big or small, personal or professional, and everyone is always supportive and encouraging. Despite rapid growth, the team has retained the family feel it had at just 10 Podsters, even though there are around 40 of us.”

Web Developer Peter Brazier also praised the Pod’s work environment: “The Marketing Pod works on a level playing field where, rather than there being a structure of managers and leaders, everyone works as one to get the job done. No one person is more important to the task than another.”

Francesca Stepney, Account Director, commented on the flexibility and work/life balance on offer at Pod: “A big bonus is being able to bring our Pod dogs into the office, which allows me to be even more flexible with my hybrid working life. I love the morals of this company and everything we stand for. It's the most genuine place I've ever worked.”

Let’s keep this good thing going

The 2024 recognition adds to our Great Place to Work achievements. We have also been ranked for Best Workplaces, Best Workplaces for Women, Best Workplaces for Wellbeing and Best Workplaces in Consulting & Professional Services in 2023.

Jodie Williams, Pod co-founder, said: “We’re really proud to have been recognised in such a prestigious ranking for the second year in a row. The Marketing Pod’s workplace culture is what makes the company so special and our Podsters are absolutely core to that.

“We believe providing a happy, healthy, safe workplace is essential to productivity, and key to providing great service to our amazing clients - not to mention the role it plays when hiring and retaining employees. We’re thrilled at this result and, with our big office revamp underway, we hope we can continue to improve for all our staff.”
